A few days ago, one of the highly-anticipated series Showstopper, featuring Zeenat Aman, Shweta Tiwari and Digangana Suryavanshi grabbed the headlines for non-payment issues against director-producer Manish Harishankar. Now, the situation has been escalated dramatically as MH Films, the production company behind the project, has taken legal action against actress Digangana Suryavanshi.

Digangana Suryavanshi in legal trouble

Allegations of cheating and criminal breach of trust under IPC Section 420 and Section 406 have been levelled against the actress. According to the reports, Digangana cheated and broke trust by ‘falsely claiming’ she would get Akshay Kumar and his company to present the project.

Moreover, MH Films has also issued a defamation notice to actor Rakesh Bedi and fashion designer Krishan Parmar, accusing them of disseminating misleading information about the collaboration and reputation of the web series. According to the notice, Rakesh and Krishnan allegedly misled the media by suggesting that the project had been shelved and payments withheld, tarnishing Manish Harishankar’s image.

Advocate Falguni Brahmbhatt, representing MH Films and Director Manish Harishankar confirmed these developments. In addition to the defamation notice, she also said Digangana Suryavanshi tried to get a lot of money by threatening Harishanka if her demands were not met. Brahmbhatt promptly reported this threat to the police and urged action based on the complaint.

The complaint filed by MH Films contends that Suryavanshi’s actions have inflicted significant damage on the reputation and financial interests of the production company. This development has sparked wider discussions about the authenticity of celebrity endorsements and the integrity of collaborations within the entertainment industry.
