Not only her parents and biological sister, her two grandfathers, one uncle and one cousin are also famous Bollywood actors. Being exposed to movies and acting from an early age motivated her to become an actress. According to Kareena, her name is taken from the name of the heroine in the novel ‘Anna Karenina’ that her mother read when she was pregnant with her.

Kareena’s first film was ‘Refugee’ (roughly translated: Refugee) released in 2000. After the success of that film, she continued to participate in many other famous films. However, her roles were gradually criticized for being repetitive and boring. By 2004, roles in the movies ‘Chameli’ and ‘Omkara’ brought her image out of the previous stereotype. Kareena has received many prestigious awards in her career and is currently one of the highest-earning actors in Bollywood.
