Arijit Singh: There is no end to the fans’ excitement about the Shah Rukh-Arijit duo. But Arijit thinks his voice does not suit Shahrukh’s lips.

At one time, Abhijit Bhattacharya was the first choice of music composers when Shah Rukh’s lyrics meant songs. And slowly that place was taken by another Bengali singer, Arijit Singh. The duo has been giving the audience one chartbuster song after another. From ‘Jalima’, ‘Gerua’ to ‘Jhume Jo Pathan’, ‘Chaleya’ or Danky’s ‘Loot Put Gaya’ or ‘O Mahi’ this year.

There is no end to the excitement of the fans about Shahrukh-Arijit’s pairing. But Arijit felt that his voice did not suit Shahrukh’s lips, so he had to work hard to play back for Shahrukh.

Arijit is very reluctant to stand in front of the camera. He is currently the most popular musician in the country. But if you see the media camera, run away! So Arijit’s number of interviews are few and far between. This time, the ‘Gerua’ singer added a candid chat. Courtesy of ‘The Music Podcast Show’.

In this show, Arijit was asked how budding singers can take their journey forward. Arijit said – ‘The matter is never dependent on the voice, it is all about the voice. I created the (voice) texture by breaking the throat myself. As the sculpture is made… imagine if my voice ever matches Shahrukh’s voice’.

Then Arijit says, after doing extra rituals at night, the voice gets quiet, then you fall asleep tired. That creates a problem. When I went to the recording in the morning ‘Baritone Khul Jata Hai’. Everyone goes by Arijit Singh these days. In this context, the singer of Aashiqui 2 fame said- ‘Yes, as we all wanted to be Sonu Nigam’. Arijit has publicly expressed his love for Sonu before.

After that Arijit is emotional while talking about his mother. He lost his mother during covid. The singer said that her mother was her first music teacher. Be it Sargam’s education or basic Tamil, it was his mother who taught him. Music permeates Arijit’s life. In that context, he said – ‘If someone blows the horn, I can hear it, but if the bell does not ring, it rings in my ears’.

Arijit fans are very excited about this interview of the singer. The full podcast will be out on the 14th.
