He pays his 88 crew members a bonus!

Akshay Kumar indeed has a heart of gold. Recently, the actor, while working on the sets of ‘Khiladi 786’ surprised crew members of his film with a token of appreciation for the hard work they put in day and night. The 88 crew members were presented with a special bonus of Rs12.80 lakh, on the final day of the shoot. This sure took them by surprise!

According to an eyewitness, “Akshay was shooting for the song ‘Balma’ at Lokhandwala, which wound up at 5am after which everyone was busy with pack-up. After an hour, at around 6am, Akshay started distributing money to the crew. He presented them amounts based on their grade. Rs9-11 thousand was paid to Grade B workers and around Rs5-8 thousand was paid to Grade C workers. So everyone from light men to vanity van guards to crane operators to costume assistants was paid a bonus!

The reason behind this gesture was because Akki knows what a meager amount is paid to technicians in the industry, who basically work more than anybody to get everything right for a film. He realised that technicians are paid more on international standards than here and felt that they deserve to be appreciated; especially some who have worked for a decade and are still paid less than what a newcomer makes in the industry. We love Akki!
