Raashii Khanna on Sidharth Malhotra: We aren’t great friends, there wasn’t really any ice to break

Raashii Khanna made a Bollywood comeback in ‘Yodha’ after 11 years, portraying a negotiation in-charge officer. Despite not sharing a close friendship off-screen with Sidharth Malhotra, their chemistry garnered significant attention during promotional events.

Raashii Khanna returned to Bollywood with ‘Yodha’ after eleven years since her debut in ‘Madras Café’. In the film, she portrayed the role of a negotiation in-charge officer. While ‘Yodha’ may not have been a box office hit, Raashii’s on-screen chemistry with Sidharth Malhotra, her husband in the film, garnered significant attention. Their appearances during promotional events also captured the audience’s interest.
But in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Raashii says that Sidharth and she aren’t really the thickest of friends in real life.

“I’m an introverted person, just like him. We aren’t great friends. It’s not like we’re buddies or we talk all the time,” she states.
“We share a good and respectful co-star relationship. During the shoot, we would keep to ourselves. There wasn’t really any ice to break. When I met him, I thought he was my type. He also felt like I was his type since we’re both introverts. And so, we never tried to encroach on each other’s spaces,” the 33-year-old tells News18 Showsha.
She opened up about the secret to their onscreen chemistry, and she stated, “We understand the craft. We know what’s required of us as actors every time a love song comes our way. I knew that we looked good on screen, but I couldn’t have imagined that we would get such an amazing response from the audience. They loved us together. It’s great that it worked.”
However, she’s quick to mention that their common Delhi background played a role in their bond. ‘We both have the Delhi connection, though the only thing ‘Delhi’ about us is our accent (laughs),’ she quips. ‘He asked me, ‘Tu Dilli se hai?’ After that, we had some discussions about the city. Since he’s an avid reader, we talked about books and films in general,’ the Farzi actor shares.

In ‘Yodha,’ Sidharth and Disha Patani delivered impactful action sequences, while Raashii focused more on emotional and dialogue-driven scenes. When asked if she missed doing action scenes in the film, she responded, ‘I’m sure I’ll do an action film eventually. However, they needed me in that particular role, and the audience also felt that the character suited me well. The casting team did an excellent job and leveraged our strengths. Disha has an incredible combat scene with Sid in the film. Action is their forte,’ Raashii explains.
The actor, who will next appear in ‘The Sabarmati Report’ and ‘Aranmanai 4,’ adds, ‘I have other strengths that people haven’t seen yet. But I don’t blame them. They’ll witness my abilities in the upcoming films I’m working on. I’m relatively new to the Hindi audience, and I’ll gradually showcase all of that in the future.’
