According to Akshay Kumar, he has always enjoyed the unadulterated nature of Rai’s cinema, which is why he was excited to collaborate with the director of ‘Tanu Weds Manu,’ ‘Raanjhanaa,’ and ‘Zero.’

Superstar Akshay Kumar said that because ‘Atrangi Re’ is a film about Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush’s characters, director Aanand L Rai was first apprehensive to approach him.

Kumar, who recently scored a box office triumph with the police drama ‘Sooryavanshi,’ claimed he was convinced by Rai’s unusual and one-of-a-kind tale in ‘Atrangi Re.’

‘As the primary leads, Dhanush and Sara really own this movie. In the film, I make a special appearance. Rai was originally certain that, because it was a small role, I would decline the movie.’

However, I thought the story was fantastic; it’s truly an atrangi (amazing) tale. It never occurred to me that a love tale might be told in this manner. Rai was surprised, therefore, when I answered yes to this. In an interview, the 54-year-old actor stated, ‘He believed there was only a 1% chance that I would agree to do the movie, and that’s what occurred.

The film ‘Atrangi Re,’ which is Kumar and Rai’s debut joint venture, is billed as a convoluted and intricate love triangle.

The actor expressed his appreciation for the unadulterated quality of Rai’s cinema and expressed his excitement about collaborating with the director, who is well-known for his films Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa, and Zero.

‘He produces grounded-in-reality films. He never pays attention to a character’s physical attractiveness, regardless of gender. He aims to convey the characters’ unfiltered feelings as well as how similar they are to real people,’ Kumar continued.

If ‘Atrangi Re’ succeeds in connecting with viewers, he feels that Khan and Dhanush should get all the credit.

This movie can only succeed because of Sara and Dhanush. Sara is an actor for directors and a highly skilled professional. This, in my opinion, is one of her best roles to date.

‘Dhanush is an exceptionally talented and skilled actor. He has acted in numerous films; his debut Hindi film, ‘Raanjhanaa,’ was a historic production. He did a really good job in this film,’ Kumar remarked.

The actor claimed that it has never mattered to him how long his role is in a movie; whether it’s a small part in ‘Naam Shabana’ or a special appearance in a home production of ‘Oh My God,’ he has always wanted to offer the audience something

‘I’ve always chosen projects that offer audiences something fresh and different rather than focusing on the duration of my character.

‘I don’t deliberately choose to work on a different genre of film after doing one. I always follow my gut. Whether it’s a cameo, character, psychopath, action role, superhero part, action guys, or any other kind of role. I’ll read it if the plot and characters appeal to me.’

Kumar declared that he is eager to collaborate with fresh directors and performers.

‘New types of roles and scripts are eagerly sought after. the avarice of the new directors I collaborate with. I feel an internal need to give a new film my all whenever I sign it,’ he continued.

The age difference between Khan and her co-stars has drawn criticism ever since the trailer debuted.

Kumar claimed that as an actor, he is indifferent to the age gap between him and his co-stars.

‘It’s not something I have to consider. Only the people in this room can contemplate things like these. It takes place here and nowhere else. This kind of thinking is evident in all of the movies here, be they from Hollywood or other parts of the globe.’

‘Atrangi Re’, which is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions, and Kumar’s Cape Of Good Films, will debut on Disney+ Hotstar on December 24.
