South Indian actresses who opened up about battling PCOS
Raashii Khanna is one of the few actresses who has been vocal about her PCOD condition

PCOD and PCOS are common conditions that are faced by women worldwide. However, often times it is noticed that there is a certain taboo associated with these conditions that lead to women not speaking up about it or discussing about it. However, with celebrities unabashedly opening up about their health conditions, it has become easier for many women to accept their condition and also to seek timely help to address their situation. Here, we look at 4 such South Indian actresses, who have opened up about having PCOS and PCOD.

1) Shruti Haasan

The multifaceted Shruti Haasan revealed that she has been battling with PCOS and endometriosis in 2022. In a lengthy social media post, she said that, “Instead of looking at it as a fight I choose to accept it as natural movement.” She further added that it is a “tough” fight and that she has accepted that such problems are “natural”.

An advocate for working out and leading a healthy life, Shruti further urged her followers to stay fit and wrote, “My body isn’t perfect right now but my heart is. Keep fit, keep happy and let those happy hormones flow!!! I know I sound a tad preachy but it’s been such a journey to accept these challenges and not let them define me.”

2) Raashii Khanna

The Farzi actress has often spoken about how she was body shamed and bullied during the initial days of her career. She also added that she suffers from PCOD which made it difficult to keep a track of her weight. Talking about it in an interview Raashii Khanna had said, “They used to say I am a gas tanker and stuff like that in the South when I started and I don’t say anything because I was quite big for the mainstream that they have. And I did become fitter in time, not to please anybody, but because I know that the job requires that. She added that the criticism did not affect her and said, “Yes, I was like ‘itna kyu faraq pad raha hai (why do they care so much). Like I am still doing well and of course, I had issues, PCOD, all those jazz which everybody goes through. But that nobody knows, what they see is what they see on screen. So I can’t blame them. Initially it did hit me, but I am also a very spiritual person so it sorts of helps switch off. So I don’t care.”

3) Namitha

Actress Namitha, who is known for her hot looks had once posted that she ended up being severely depressed and even had suicidal thoughts after she was diagnosed with PCOS and thyroid. She also said that her weight increased up to 97 kgs due to PCOS.

4) Geetha Bharathi Bhat

Kannada actress Geetha Bharathi Bhat had also opened up about her PCOS problem. She had also revealed that she gained oodles of weight due to her condition and that she started working out to control her weight.
