Celebrity mom Marian Rivera is beaming with pride over her daughter Zia Dantes’s recent accomplishments.

On July 30, 2023, Marian announced on Instagram that her daughter had secured an impressive count of six medals in a competitive swimming event.

Speaking to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) on August 2, 2023, Marian further expressed her profound pride in her daughter, highlighting Zia’s dedicated preparation for the competition.

“Sobrang proud ako kasi kasama niya akong nagte-training para dun sa competition na yun,” she said in an interview at the official launch of make-up brand Kiko Milano’s Little Mermaid collection at a restaurant in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Having said that, Marian takes immense pride in being a supportive “cheerleader” for her family.

“Ever since talaga, 101 percent talaga ako pag nagchi-cheer. Minsan nga yung anak ko sinasabi niya, ‘Mama, I heard your voice! You’re so loud cheering for me!’

“Sabi ko, ‘Yes, because I’m proud!’ Sabi kong ganun.”

Marian said she and her husband Dingdong Dantes permitted their daughter to take part in the competition, aiming to prepare her for wins and losses later in her adult life.

Whether Zia wins or loses, they assured her it was okay.

“Sabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘Anak, manalo, matalo, okay lang tayo. Ang importante yung experience,’ sabi kong ganun.

“Parang… ‘Pray…’ sabi kong ganun. ‘Bibigyan ka ni Papa God ng strength para manalo tayo. Kung hindi, that’s fine. For me, you’re my number one. You’re the champion!,’ sabi ko.

“So nandun kami ng daddy niya to support her and nagulat kami kasi hindi namin in-expect na, ‘O, laban talaga siya!'”

Marian joyfully shared that Zia is also thriving in other activities aside from swimming.

She said, “Madami siya! Nagvo-voice lesson siya, swimming, nagpa-piano. Maraming ginagawa yung anak ko. Hindi nauubusan ng energy yun.”

MARIAN RIVERA: RAISING A KIKAY DAUGHTER

In addition to uncovering her daughter’s athletic and competitive side, Marian also delights in discovering Zia’s “kikay” personality.

In fact, Marian mentioned that Zia is even “more kikay than me.”

Now that Marian knows about her daughter’s interest in beauty and fashion, she’s happy they can bond over these things.

She said, “Maganda kasi na-appreciate niya na, e.”

Marian revealed that Zia was particularly excited to use Kiko Milano’s Little Mermaid collection.

She told PEP.ph, “Excited siya kasi yung… all of the collection, yung Little Mermaid, ginamit ko siya today. Ito lahat yun, the eye shadow, the liner, the lip stick, the blush on…

“So yung anak ko, ‘Mom, after this can I borrow?’ ‘Of course, anak!'”

Marian added, “Mahilig siya sa colorful… kasi bata.”

Even though they enjoy bonding over make-up, Marian ensures she provides guidance to her daughter in this area.

She said, “Actually, naglalaro naman siya… Ang sinasabi ko ngayon parang, ang pagme-make-up kasi parang canvas iyan, e.

“Kumbaga, you express yourself kung anong gusto mo. So wala namang masama.

“Pero sabi ko siyempre babagayan natin. Siyempre, pag nasa school ka, hindi puwede.

“Or pag naglalaro tayo, puwede. Or pag may shoot tayo, puwede. Pero pag umaalis tayo at pupunta sa mall, huwag na lang. Simple lang.”
