Jawan box office collection day 29: After just under a month in theatres, Shah Rukh Khan’s action drama has passed the Rs 1100 crore mark globally, and now trails KGF 2, RRR, Baahubali 2 and Dangal at the worldwide box office.
Jawan box office: Shah Rukh Khan’s film is breaking records.
As the box office prepares for yet another Akshay Kumar-starrer, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is continuing its downward trend after an entire month of absolute domination. On its 29th day of release, the action drama made Rs 1.85 crore across all languages in India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
This is the lowest single-day haul that the film has registered so far. But the film’s overall collection in India now stands at Rs 617 crore. Jawan opened to Rs 75 crore on September, but peaked on its first Sunday, when it made Rs 80 crore, breaking the records for the biggest opening and biggest single-day haul for a Bollywood movie. Jawan also became the fastest Hindi film to pass significant box office milestones, and the first Bollywood movie to pass the Rs 600 crore mark domestically.
It overtook Shah Rukh’s own Pathaan to become the biggest-ever Hindi movie in India, and the second-biggest worldwide. Globally, Jawan has grossed Rs 1103 crore, and it now trails KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1215 crore), RRR (Rs 1230 crore), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1780 crore) and Dangal (Rs 2400 crore).
Designed as Shah Rukh’s first pan-India movie, Jawan is directed by Atlee and also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. Deepika Padukone shows up for an extended guest appearance, while Sanjay Dutt pops by for a cameo. The film ended with a tease for a follow-up, and Atlee has been hinting at a sequel as well.
Along with Pathaan and Gadar 2, Jawan has been responsible for helping the Hindi film industry stage a rebound after two uncertain years, during which audiences had started voicing their displeasure at what they were being presented. Other Hindi movies that did well this year are Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Satyaprem Ki Katha, OMG 2 and The Kerala Story.
