Shah Rukh Khan is among the biggest superstars of Bollywood who shares sizzling onscreen chemistry with almost all of his leading ladies including Kajol, Rani Mukerji, and Aishwarya Rai. In 2006, he teamed up with Priyanka Chopra for Farhan Akhtar’s Don. While the film turned out to be a huge hit, fans also loved SRK and PeeCee’s onscreen pairing. 

Later, the duo also teamed up for Don 2 which turned out to be their last outing together. Back then, there were strong rumours that they were dating each other secretly. Later, when SRK’s wife Gauri Khan got to know about their alleged relationship, she dumped PeeCee from her inner circle and warned SRK to maintain distance from the actress socially. She also asked the superstar to not work with Priyanka in the future.

However, both SRK and Priyanka denied the linkup rumours and maintained that they are good friends. Back in 2012, during the promotions of Jab Tak Hai Jaan, the actor talked about his alleged affair with PeeCee and called the rumours disturbing.

Talking about his linkup with the Krrish actress, SRK said, ‘To me, what is most disturbing, is the fact that a lady who’s worked with me has been questioned and somewhere down the line, not being shown the kind of respect I show her or all the women. I think it’s little disrespectful, I’m extremely sorry about that. Sorry means…it’s not directly because of anything I’ve done but the fact that she’s my friend. She’s one of the closest friends I have and very close to my heart and always will be. I just feel sometimes when things are said, I needed to step back from it because I find it very banal, very small, and very menial. You know, it just tends to spoil relationships that people share while working together. She’s a little girl who started her Miss India crowning with me and or Miss World crowning with me, I don’t remember. We’ve shared some of the nicest moments on screen as friends and it’s unfortunate. It’s extremely unfortunate and sad for me to think that you know, a friendship gets a little soiled”.

When the host asked if that (linkup rumours) has affected their friendship at all, he answered, ‘No, not at all. I think, she’s matured enough to deal with it. But, having said that, we all rush into giving names to relationships without even understanding them at times. That’s the strange part, not only of media, all of us’.

For the unversed, Don 2 was released in 2011 and was a big success. It’s been over a decade since SRK and Priyanka worked together and their fans are waiting to see them together on screen. However, looks like that is not going to happen.

While Priyanka is now busy making a name for herself in the West, SRK too has several interesting projects like Pathaan and Dunki in his kitty.
