Amitabh Bachchan transferred the ownership of his first home, ‘Pratiksha’ to his daughter, Shweta Bachchan on November 9, 2023.

Amitabh Bachchan gifted his first Juhu bungalow to his daughter, Shweta Bachchan

While Amitabh Bachchan has several properties in Mumbai, his first home, Pratiksha, remains close to his heart. He made a significant move by gifting his first-ever home, Pratiksha, to his daughter, Shweta Bachchan. According to a report first published by the Economic Times, the transfer of ownership was formalised through two distinct gift deeds, each corresponding to a specific plot on which the bungalow stands.

Amitabh Bachchan and his wife, Jaya Bachchan, transferred ownership of their bungalow, which spread over a total of 16,840 sq feet, on November 8, 2023, and it was registered the next day. The report further stated that the Bachchan family had paid a total stamp duty worth Rs. 50.65 lakhs for the gift deed. They also revealed the market value of the bungalow, which is over Rs. 50.63 crores.

For every person, their first home remains special, as is the case with Amitabh Bachchan. It was in 2020, when the superstar opened up about his first home with a blog post. He shared that in 1976, he had moved into his first home, and his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, named it instantly — Pratiksha. It was inspired by one of his lines, ‘Swagat sabke liye yaha par, nahi kisi ke liye prateeksha.’

Amitabh Bachchan recalled how his children, Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan grew up playing around the Gulmohar tree, which was planted as a sapling in the lawn of their first home. Later, they got married at the same place, and their children, Aaradhya Bachchan, Navya Nanda and Agastya Nanda played around it.
