Alia Bhatt turned host for the Hope Gala in London on Thursday. With the event, the diva raised funds for underprivileged adolescents in India through the Salaam Bombay Foundation.
Joining her for the cause were musician Harshdeep Kaur, comedian Rohan Joshi, and director Gurinder Chadha, among others. A video dropped by the Mandarin Oriental, the venue for the gala, is now being widely circulated on social media.
The video featured Alia pulling off two different looks. She opted for a maroon dress for the red carpet look and then changed it into a cream-embroidered lace saree for the gala. The clip also features the actress delivering a speech at the venue, leaving fans wondering about what she said.
Notably, the gala event saw Alia backing the Salaam Bombay charity. The charity indulges in social work to help Mumbai’s most vulnerable children through in-school programs for leadership and advocacy. It also deals with their after-school academies for skill-building to take an initiative boosting their confidence and self-esteem to receive education.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatta was also clicked by shutterbugs as she left for London on Wednesday night at the airport. The actress was caught blushing as one of the paps called her ‘vahini.’ The video showed the Gangubai Kathiawadi star rushing to board her flight. Despite this, she took a moment to take a picture with a young fan.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt recently wrapped up shooting for her upcoming film, Jigra. In the Vasan Bala directorial, she starred alongside Vedang Raina.
The film is co-produced by her production house. In addition to Jigra, the actress has been roped in for another project with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Titled Love and War , the film has created enough buzz ever since its announcement as Alia will be reuniting with hubby Ranbir Kapoor for the film and the couple will be joined by Vicky Kaushal to play a key role in the film.
