Indian viewers might not have felt overwhelmed by Aamir Khan’s last film Secret Superstar, but Chinese are lapping it like hot cake. The film has opened to great numbers in China. In fact, the film has earned seven times more money than what it did in India in the first week.

Aamir Khan plays a musician in Secret Superstar.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted the film’s business figures and that will bring a big smile on Aamir’s face. In its first week, Secret Superstar has gathered more than Rs 293 crore in China. On the other hand, it gathered only Rs 39.30 crore in its opening week in India.

Secret Superstar has a young girl with a golden voice at the helm of affairs. She wants to make it big in the world of music but is scared of her conservative father and society in general.

Directed by Advait Chandan, the film saw Aamir Khan in a supporting role to its lead Insia, played by Zaira Wasim.

Before Secret Superstar, Aamir Khan swept the Chinese box office off its feet with his wrestling movie, Dangal. The film’s massive collection in China made Dangal the highest grossing Indian film ever, even more than last year’s blockbuster Baahubali 2. Dangal’s worldwide tally is more than Rs 2200 crore, which was unthinkable a couple of years back.
