Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2017 hit film, Arjun Reddy, starring Vijay Deverakonda, resonated deeply with audiences and became a blockbuster at the box office. Its success led to the idea of remaking the film in Hindi, eventually resulting in Kabir Singh. However, Sandeep’s journey in adapting his Telugu hit into a Hindi version faced its share of challenges.

In an interview with iDream Media, Sandeep Reddy Vanga opened up about the initial hesitancy surrounding casting Shahid Kapoor for the lead role in Kabir Singh. He revealed that there were concerns about Shahid’s track record at the box office, citing that none of his solo films had crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at that time.

Many questioned why he was considering Shahid for the role, suggesting that someone like Ranveer Singh might ensure a more significant box-office performance. However, Sandeep remained resolute in his belief in Shahid Kapoor’s acting prowess, despite these apprehensions.

Interestingly, Sandeep also shared that Ranveer Singh was initially approached for the role of Kabir Singh. However, Ranveer Singh opted out of the project, expressing that the film’s darker theme didn’t align with his sensibilities at that particular phase of his career.

Moving beyond Kabir Singh, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s current project is Animal, marking his first collaboration with Ranbir Kapoor.

The film, which also features Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, delves into the intricate dynamics of a father-son relationship, portrayed by Anil and Ranbir. This cinematic venture is set to explore compelling complexities within familial ties.
