This year’s theme song has been sung by Bengal boy Arijit Singh. That too in the mind of Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.


The 29th Kolkata International Film Festival begins on December 5. Last minute preparations are currently underway. Various speculations were going on about what will and will not be present at this year’s film festival. Finally, there is some light on it. The committee held a press conference at Rabindra Sadan on Wednesday evening.

Minister Arup Biswas, Indranil Sen, festival committee chairman Raj Chakraborty, Mimi Chakraborty, Soham Chakraborty, Chiranjit, Gautam Ghosh, Jun Malia, Harnath Chakraborty were present in the press conference.

 

It is known that this year’s theme song has been sung by Bengal boy Arijit Singh. He sang the song in the thoughts of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Arijit sang the theme song for this first film festival.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium on December 5. Who will be there that day, has also been revealed. Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Kamal Haasan, Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, Sourav Ganguly and Mahesh Bhatt are reportedly expected to appear. Although it was already reported, Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan will not be staying this time.

 

Bollywood veteran actors Saurabh Shukla, Manoj Bajpayee and director Sudhir Mishra will also participate in the master class. Not only this, director Anurag Kashyap will be present on the occasion of the screening of ‘Kennedy’. And Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari will attend the closing ceremony of the film festival.

This year, 23 theaters will screen 219 films from the country and abroad. The new surprise is the addition of a new category for award distribution. The award will be given in the ‘Bengali Panorama’ category from this year. The prize money is seven and a half lakh rupees. There will also be a golden royal trophy.

Keefe’s ‘focus country’ this year is Spain. The ‘special focus country’ is Australia. Centenary tributes will be paid to Mrinal Sen, Dev Anand, Mukesh, Shailendra at the festival. All in all, the month of December is going to be very busy for the movie favorite Bengali.
