Deepika Padukone was names as the face of Louis Vuitton last year and has been featured in numerous banners and ads for the brand since.

In addition to her several successful film roles, Deepika Padukone represents luxury brands globally, including Cartier and Louis Vuitton. She, along with Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt, have become well-known Indian faces abroad. But when DP first began working with LV, not even she could have predicted that she was in for a great treat.

Deepika Padukone represents Louis Vuitton as an international brand ambassador.

Deepika said in a recent interview with Vogue India that she assumed the company would treat her like a ‘influencer,’ asking her to take photos of their items and share them on social media. ‘Yeah, whatever, they are just going to post it on their social media and use me like an influencer,’ the woman remarked, ‘moving on from that’ when she saw the photographs with the Louis Vuitton campaign logo on the monitor during Ethan James Green’s photo session for it last year.’

However, she quickly came to understand that was not the brand’s intention for her. A few months later, while driving to the red carpet in Cannes as a member of the jury for the film festival, I saw this enormous storefront with my face on it. At that moment, it dawned on her, ‘This is real,’ she said.

Unlike Priyanka Chopra, Deepika, however, insists that India will always be ‘home’ and she doesn’t need to live there, regardless of how much success she has in the West. ‘Why does moving with a suitcase and belongings make a difference in the world? I was offered a job abroad early in my modeling career, and all the fashion experts in India told me I should be in Paris, New York, or Milan, not here. I responded, no, they are not my home cities. India is my home,’ she said.

In addition to LV and Cartier, Deepika also represents her own skincare line, 82E.
