Rishi Kapoor once slammed reports of Katrina Kaif calling him papa

Earlier this year, Neetu Kapoor stirred headlines with a cryptic Instagram post about “marriage,” sparking speculation about a dig at Katrina Kaif, who previously dated Neetu’s son, Ranbir Kapoor, for seven years from 2009 to 2016. Reports suggested that Ranbir’s parents were not particularly fond of his relationship with Katrina Kaif.

In a 2015 interview with GQ, Katrina Kaif admitted to not being close to Ranbir’s family, emphasizing the importance of family in her decision to marry.

She had said at the time, “I am not as close to Ranbir’s family as I would like. But I would like to hang out with them more. Family would be a defining factor when I make the decision to marry.”

Recently, an old statement from the late Rishi Kapoor regarding Katrina calling him “papa” resurfaced online. Rishi Kapoor, known for his candidness, clarified in 2016 that despite Ranbir and Katrina’s relationship, she had not dared to address him as “papa.”

He dismissed rumors, stating, “A newspaper reported that she has started calling me, ‘Papa.’ Rubbish, she wouldn’t dare to take such liberties with me. Why am I always being dragged into his (Ranbir’s) private life? I’m not the sort to duck questions. As far as I’m concerned, Katrina has been very well behaved. I worked with her in Namastey London.”

Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot with Alia Bhatt in April 2022, while Katrina Kaif happily married Vicky Kaushal. Meanwhile, in April, Neetu Kapoor shared a somewhat controversial Instagram story that read, “Just because he dated you for 7 years, it doesn’t mean he will marry you. My uncle studied medicine for 6 years, now he is a DJ.” Netizens criticized Neetu over the post, perceiving it as a veiled jab at Katrina and expressing their disapproval of her views on marriage.
