I change my hair like people change clothes. Ginger to brighten up my days in the dead of winter or blue when I’m in my feels during the monsoon. But I’ll be honest, the constant hair treatments have left my hair feeling drier than your lips in the sardi. If you’re in the same boat as me or are just looking to start experimenting with your hair without going overboard, Deepika Padukone’s new hair is the best place to start.

The actor recently stepped out for dinner in Mumbai in a new cut and colour. Her hair looked as if inspired by the glazed donut trend with its shiny tresses. The base was a deep brown with softly blended highlights that lit up her face like a diya on Diwali.

Megha Pilwalkar, creative stylist at Looks Salons tells indianexpress.com that celebs have started leaning towards the glazed chocolate brunette with tiny specks of golden peeking through.

Calling it the hair colour trend of the season, she added that “it gives a lot of dimension to the hair without making it look flat, giving it a silky smooth and natural look. Not quite warm like the summer sun, but more like a pumpkin spice latte.”

Deepika is not alone. Khushi Kapoor, Hailey Bieber, and Kaia Gerber have also chosen the shiny hair colour in some form.

With their subtle sheen, deep browns with ribbon gold lights or cinnamon spice and ash brown hues can be your hair colour inspiration this festive season, added Pilwalkar.

What should you ask for at the salon?
When you go to the salon, request for babylights that are one or two shades lighter than your natural hair colour. The goal is to create a shimmering finish that highlights your brown locks, making them look naturally healthy and alluring.

It can be customised to your liking, with possibilities such as gold, caramel, or bronze threads based on the depth of your hair. The emphasis should be on subtlety, giving a multi-dimensional effect free of harsh, unnatural streaks.

How to take care of it?
Stylists recommend using a purple shampoo to preserve the ends and keep them brass-free and the overall look creamy and radiant to maintain the glazed effect. Furthermore, colour-safe shampoo and conditioner are required to maintain the attractiveness of your locks. If you routinely use heat styling tools, don’t forget to include a dependable heat protectant.
