The Academy Museum Gala, hosted by the same board that organises the Oscars, is the second most important stage in the world of cinema. Deepika Padukone, who had earlier made history by presenting an Indian song act at the Oscars this year, is the first Indian actor to be invited to the Academy Museum Gala.

The guest list included big names, including Selena Gomez, Robert Downey Jr, Natalie Portman, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde, Danai Gurira, Sandra Oh, Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Chan, Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, and others.

The actress, who had a phenomenal year with both her films Pathaan and Jawan breaking box office records and earning over 2200 crores worldwide, was also one of the few Indians to grace the cover of TIME magazine without being part of any list.

She ended the year 2023 on a high note by attending the gala, where she looked stunning in a purple velvet gown and minimal jewellery. Her fans were ecstatic to see their idol make India proud once again by showcasing the country’s talent on such a huge global platform.
