Is Deepika Padukone Pregnant?

After dating for almost six years, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone tied the knot in November last year and (officially) became Bollywood’s ultimate power couple. And ever since the two have been giving us all kinds of relationship goals!

Deepika never fails to make headlines for her sartorial choices. Recently, she made a dazzling appearance at the Met Gala and wore a pink strapless custom gown by Zac Posen. After stunning us with her ‘Barbie girl’ look, Deepika joined all the other stars for the Met Gala after-party. But when Priyanka Chopra shared a picture with hubby Nick Jonas and Deepika from the party, it sparked a debate on the internet…

Netizens asked – is ?

The picture in question saw Deepika wearing a yellow dress paired with a monochrome fur overcoat. And while she looked gorgeous as ever, fans were focusing on the fact that she might be pregnant.

This picture went viral on the Internet in no time. While most of them jumped the gun, a lot of Twitter users found this speculation absolutely outrageous. One of them pointed out, “I don’t like these little diversions from washboard abs – after we have a meal, women are called pregnant. Especially if they are married.” Another one had a hilarious response to the picture, “If that slight bloat means she’s pregnant then I’m like 5-6 months along LoL!”

A source close to the actress denied the rumours and said, “These rumours about her pregnancy are absolutely laughable.”

Nowadays, married actresses are always on a ‘bump watch’. A low angled picture can lead to a frenzy of speculation that ignites outrageous pregnancy rumours.

Even last month, Deepika became the subject of speculations that suggested she was pregnant. The Padmaavat actress not only slammed the rumours but also expressed her discontent at such speculations being made soon after an actress got married: “It will happen when it has to happen. Motherhood trumps being married. That’s what I hear from people who have had children. Of course, it will happen at some point but no, I think it is unfair to put women through that, to put a couple through that. I guess the day we stop asking the questions is when we will bring about change.”

On the work front, Deepika was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. She will next be seen in Chhappak, which is being helmed by Meghna Gulzar. The film is based on the life of acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal.
