Deepika Padukone has addressed the recent criticism surrounding her candid revelations about her open relationship with Ranveer Singh on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 8. In a recent interview with Vogue, the actress explained her stance, stating that when she feels strongly or passionately about something, she doesn’t hesitate to express herself. Deepika emphasized that she has grown into a person unafraid of speaking her truth or owning up to mistakes.

The actress added that she is not afraid to apologize and is comfortable being the lone voice in the room with a different point of view. This comes after Karan Johar, the host of Koffee With Karan 8, reacted to Deepika’s online trolling and urged against engaging in futile trolling, saying, ‘Trolling gets you nowhere. You are landing nowhere.’

For the unversed, in the first episode of Koffee With Karan 8, Deepika had discussed her relationship and marriage with Ranveer, revealing, “I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said ‘I just don’t want to be attached, don’t want to be committed.’ And I had fun! And then he came along, so I didn’t commit until he proposed to me. There was no commitment as such. Even if we were technically allowed to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other.”

Her statement triggered a debate on social media, with some terming this phase as DeepVeer’s ‘situationship,’ while others criticized the actress.
