On social media, a ‘deepfake’ video of Rashmika Mandanna was circulated.

New Delhi: According to sources on Wednesday, the Delhi Police have questioned a 19-year-old Bihari teenager over a deepfake video of star Rashmika Mandanna that went viral on social media lately.

The kid, according to the authorities, published the video to his social media account first, then extensively disseminated it on other platforms.

A senior officer informed PTI that he was given notice to join the investigation at the same time the video was originally posted on social media from his account.

On November 10, at the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, a formal complaint was filed under sections 465 (punishment for forgery) and 469 (forgery with intent to harm reputation) of the Indian Penal Code as well as sections 66C and 66E of the Information Technology Act.

On Tuesday, however, the municipal police reported that no arrests had been made in relation to the investigation so far.

The offender was identified using the URL and other facts that the IFSO Unit obtained from Meta shortly after filing a formal complaint.
