Fighter x Tejas: Hrithik Roshan‘s upcoming aerial action drama, Fighter, has begun its promotional campaign ahead of its release on Republic Day weekend 2024. The makers have dropped the new look for Hrithik Roshan from the film ahead of the teaser launch on December 7, 2023.

Before we see the teaser, trailer, and movie, here is something that caught our attention and must be discussed as interesting trivia. A couple of months ago, Kangana Ranaut‘s aerial action drama, Tejas, crashed at the box office. Now, does that mean this genre doesn’t really work with Indian audiences? Does that mean Fighter will also have the same fate?

If you remember, the first introduction teaser of Fighter had black-and-white effects and showed Hrithik Roshan walking at the aviation platform in an IAF uniform. That was quite similar to Kangana’s first look from Tejas. Also, today’s look of Hrithik Roshan is zoomed in on his face, again making it comparable to one of Kangana’s solo posters from Tejas.

One more thing to notice is that Tejas and Fighter both belong to the same genre that hasn’t been explored in Bollywood yet. So we don’t really know the potential of this genre. Hollywood has had successes like Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick, but we haven’t, and with as recent a film as Tejas not flying well, Fighter may also not soar.

Well, we will have to wait for the film to make more comparisons. But prima facie Fighter is flying too close to Tejas for comfort.
