Rashmika Mandanna reveals the truth behind her viral Bellandur photoshoot

Rashmika Mandanna shot to fame this year with her performance in Telugu debut film Geetha Govindam. She was then in the news for calling off her impending engagement with actor Rakshit Shetty due to personal reasons.

The actress once again made headlines yesterday for her latest photoshoot near Bellandur lake in Bengaluru. The photoshoot she did, is to raise awareness about water pollution in lakes. There are two photos on the lake bed and two other photos underwater.

According to the Newsminute, the actress did not enter into the Bellandur lake to take the underwater photos. These photos were taken at her friend’s pool and were later edited to make them dramatic.

Rashmika, in her interview to the news portal, said, ‘It was the first time I had gone to that part of the city and as soon as I saw the crowd of people living there, I was heartbroken. I did not feel like leaving my car and I thought, how could people breathe this air. There was so much foam and it was flying around everywhere. It’s high time we start talking about pollution and working on this issue. We wanted to do the underwater shoot to showcase how grave the situation is and how bad things are going to be if we don’t change.’

The Geetha Govindam actress also explained how she agreed to do this campaign. ‘It all started when a senior from school spoke to me about this project. She told me this is not a paid thing, but since this was to raise awareness about pollution, I was interested,’ she revealed.

Bellandur lake, which was once a lively water body, is now dumped with untreated sewage and industrial effluents. The lake spills smelly froth and catches fire often.
