Arijit Singh opens up on Saffron color controversy!

“So Much Controversy Over A Color?”, Arijit Singh Reacts To The Controversy Surrounding ‘Saffron’ Color

Saffron has been all over the news recently, thanks in large part to the song Besharam Rang from the Bollywood film Pathaan. The sight of Deepika in her skimpy bikini caused quite a stir and angered many people.

Before then, the song “Rang De Tu Mohe Gerua” from the film “Dilwale” by Shah Rukh Khan had been the center of attention. Arijit Singh, the song’s original singer, has now spoken out about the backlash he’s received.

The Jhoome Jo Pathaan singer said,

“So much of controversy over a colour! Saffron is the colour of Sanyasis, of Swami Ji (vivekananda). Had he worn white, would there be a controversy over the white color as well?”

as quoted by India Today.

Deepika has worn saffron bikinis before, so this wasn’t the first time. In the 2012 film Cocktail, she again appeared in an orange bikini. Interestingly, Akshay Kumar wore a similar hue in the film Bhool Bhulaiyaa.

In the film Bobby, Dimple Kapadia too sported a saffron bikini. Indeed, both Varun Dhawan and John Abraham wore bright orange briefs in the film Dishoom. Throughout the beginning of time, it has been understood that colors themselves pose no emotional threat.

The February 18 event by Arijit in Kolkata was apparently postponed. Why so? Amit Malviya of the BJP claims that this incident occurred when the famous singer sang an SRK-Kajol duet at the opening of the Kolkata International Film Festival, embarrassing Mamata Banerjee.
At the Kolkata Film Festival, Mamata Banerjee asked Arijit Singh to sing one of his favourites and he chose

रंग दे तू मोहे गेरुआ…

It was an evening of realisations. From Mr Bachchan to Arijit, who reminded Mamata Banerjee, in her backyard, that the future of Bengal is saffron…

West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim said that clearance for Arijit Singh’s event was denied because of another event, a G-20 summit, planned for the same time and place.
