Speaking to JioCinema, Kohli revealed that teams in 2011 asked him to put himself in the Auction. This was when Kohli had just fixed his spot in the Indian Cricket Team and was making a name for himself thanks to his great form.

The teams offered him a spot in their top order, while Kohli was batting in the middle order for RCB. He rejected their offers, stating that he wanted to stay in a team that has backed him. Two years later he became the RCB captain and held the post till his resignation in 2021. He remains the only player to play for one franchise since the first edition of the IPL.
