Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are one of Bollywood’s most powerful “it” couples. DeepVeer, as their fans lovingly call them, fell head over heels while portraying the role of lovers in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Ram-Leela’ in 2013. Looking back, Ranveer recalled on Koffee With Karan that he proposed marriage to Deepika right after the release of Ram-Leela. The actor said that within six months of dating, he knew Deepika was the one for him.

“So Ram-Leela happened and we were in this (dating period). At one point, when I felt right I decided she was the one,” Ranveer told Karan Johar on the first episode of Koffee With Karan Season 8. “So I thought before anything can happen just put a ring on it.”

After six years of dating, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Italy in 2018. Since then the duo has never failed to shell out major couple goals. However, in the past one year, they have been subjected to intense media scrutiny in more ways than one. From divorce rumours to Koffee With Karan “situation-ship” controversy and pregnancy announcement, Deepika and Ranveer became the topic of discussion on social media on several occasions.

1. Deepika Padukone skipped sharing birthday post for Ranveer Singh

In July last year, Deepika Padukone left DeepVeer fans heartbroken when she skipped sharing any lovey-dovey post for Ranveer Singh on his 38th birthday (July 6). While Ranveer’s fellow colleagues and close friends including Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma, Katrina Kaif and Sara Ali Khan showered him with immense love and appreciation on social media, Deepika chose not to share anything for the ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ star, which left their fans wondering if all was well between the couple.

2. Ranveer shut down split rumours with loved-up pic featuring him and Deepika

On July 10 2023, a few days after his 38th birthday, Ranveer Singh posted a mushy pic with Deepika Padukone, putting an end to all wild rumours about their possible split. Taking to Instagram Stories, he shared a black and white photo featuring him and Deepika. In the photo, Ranveer and Deepika seemingly sat inside a ship as they leaned outside. Deepika closed her eyes and smiled with her face away from the camera. While elated Ranveer looked at the lens sitting next to Deepika.

3. Deepika-Ranveer’s Koffee With Karan appearance

In October 2023, Ranveer and Deepika’s joint appearance on Koffee With Karan season 8 created a stir on the internet. The couple spoke at length about their love story and relationship, and discussed details that they had never shared with the world before. But, the episode received a mixed response from viewers. Deepika specifically received a lot of trolling for saying, “I was seeing other people but I would go back to him.” Even Karan Johar said that he believed it to be one of the most “honest and heartfelt” episodes of all time but it had a “ridiculous kind of after effect.”

4. Deepika’s pregnancy announcement

Deepika and Ranveer took the internet by surprise after they announced the news of the actress’ pregnancy on Instagram in February 2024. They wrote their baby was arriving in September 2024. The announcement confirmed weeks of speculation that Deepika was pregnant, prompted partly by her appearance at the BAFTAs.

5. Ranveer’s social media cleanup

Ranveer fans were in for a big shock on Tuesday after the actor allegedly removed his and Deepika’s wedding photos from his Instagram account. Ranveer’s move sparked rumours of trouble in his marriage with Deepika. It’s still unclear whether Ranveer has permanently deleted the photos from his social media account or just archived them.

However, a source close to Ranveer and Deepika informed that the couple is going strong, and that they are excited to welcome their first child together. Meanwhile, the duo recently returned home from a romantic getaway. They were holidaying at an undisclosed location.
