The 2007 romantic comedy, Jab We Met which stole hearts and the characters of the movie are still remembered, is once again grabbing headlines as reports of a sequel surface online.

According to a report in Times Now, plans of Jab We Met 2 are reportedly in the early stages. Raj Mehta, the owner of Ashtavinayak, will produce the film under the Gandhar Films banner. Not only this, according to the report, Imtiaz Ali, who is the director of the original part is also rumoured for the sequel.

Though no official announcement has been made yet, fans are speculating if Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor will reunite for the sequel and reprise their iconic roles of Aditya and Geet.

Earlier this year, Jab We Met was re-released in the theatres and Shahid Kapoor also discussed the potential of the sequel in an interview. The actor said, “It really depends on the quality of that script. So if there is a script that demands a sequel and I feel it is the kind of script that you read and say ‘man this will be better than the original, this can match up to the original,’ I would do it. But if I feel it’s not and I’m just trying to use the brand value of the original thing to do, then I feel that ‘why are you doing it, don’t do it.”

The actor also praised Kareena Kapoor’s role as Geet in the movie and said, “I cannot comment on my role, but for Geet (Kareena Kapoor’s character), I really doubt anybody else will be able to do that kind of justice.”

While there has been no confirmation about the same from the director or the actors, it will be interesting to see ex-lovers Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor reuniting for the sequel of Jab We Met.

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor is all set to make her OTT debut with Sujoy Ghosh’s thriller Jaane Jaan. The movie also stars Vijay Varma and Jaideep Ahlawat and is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on September 21. Shahid Kapoor on the other hand will be seen romancing Kriti Sanon in Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah’s untitled next.
