Last December, in a post on social media, he wrote, “It’s been a year since I saw you in person, and now, for almost three months, I’ve been blocked from everywhere so posting the same picture to wish you, my boy, a very Happy Birthday (sic)”. Earlier in April, he posted another picture for his son, writing, “You’re always with me, my boy.”
Shikhar has, in recent times, been open about his private life and separation. Ask him about it and he replies, “If someone asks me about my personal life, I tell them whatever I can. But yes, I will never wash my dirty linen in public. Main kabhi kisi ki buraiyaan karne nahi aaunga in public. Jo bata sakta hoon, wo zarur bataunga. For instance, there are so many things that happen in the Indian (cricket team’s) dressing room. But now that I am not playing, it doesn’t mean I would leak those things. It is against my ethics.”
‘I do not have anything to hide’
Talking about missing his son, he shares, “It is a natural feeling for a father to have towards his son. God has given me a platform and people love me, so if I come out in the open and share my experience and that benefits someone, then usse badi aur acchi kya baat ho sakti hai. There are so many fathers who cannot meet their children. When I came out about what I experienced in my life, it gave inspiration to those fathers. Even I have been inspired by so many. I am not spreading negativity. When I spoke about my marriage, I admitted I was inexperienced. I am open about it. Tomorrow some boy might learn from my experience.”
Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan had met his former wife Aesha Mukherjee on Facebook and they got married in 2012. While this was Aesha’s second marriage and she has two daughters with her first husband, it was the first time Shikhar had married. Together, Aesha and Shikhar have a 10-year-old son named Zoraver Dhawan. However, as per Shikhar Dhawan’s allegations against Aesha, the latter lived in Australia with their son for years, refused to move to India, and kept Shikhar away from his son. In 2023, a Delhi Court granted divorce to Shikhar Dhawan on grounds of mental ‘cruelty’ which was inflicted on him by his ex-wife Aesha Dhawan.
‘I am single and very happy’
The cricketer adds that currently there is no special woman in his life. “I am single and very happy being single,” he declares. He adds, “I feel happy and grateful about the love I get from people. I embrace it. I used to dream about it.”
Shikhar who recently made his debut as a talk show host in Dhawan Karenge, also spoke if he would be willing to make an acting debut. “If there is offer then why not. There have been a few offers, but one needs to see is the director what is the story. I want to start on a good level. The way I look, I think an action role would suit me the best. I would love to experience acting as well,” he shares.
