A deep dive into King Khan’s exquisite watch collection

The times and watches of Shah Rukh Khan

A handful of Rolexes, a whole lot of Patek Phillippes and a lot more – the erstwhile Tag Heuer brand ambassador has certainly upgraded his watch collection over the decades. Movie star Shah Rukh Khan has become a favourite among watch spotters thanks to his tasteful and eclectic array of wrist bling that’s often on full display under stadium lights, during his IPL outings. Here are a handful of the finest watches seen adorning his wrist.

The times and watches of Shah Rukh Khan

1. Rolex Oyster Perpetual Celebration Dial

Khan is not the sort to go for the standard version of any watch, even a Rolex. Consisting of all the popular colours from the 2020 Oyster Perpetual line-up, this “Celebration Dial” does just that – celebrate a watch that has essentially been the brand’s backbone all these years.

Featuring asymmetrical bubbles in some of the most popular colours found on the Oyster Perpetual over the years, the watch is unusual, well-humoured and idiosyncratic. Which makes it a perfect fit for this particular wearer.

Price: Rs 5.6 lakh
2. Patek Phillipe Nautilus 5811

If there’s one brand that easily sits atop the horological hierarchy pyramid it’s Patek Philippe. So it stands to reason that one of the world’s wealthiest entertainers has quite a few of them. The Nautilus is pretty much the brand’s flagship series, although it didn’t surface until 1976. Designed by the great Gerald Genta (of Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Fame), it too is a steel jacketed luxury sports watch like the Royal Oak. The 5811 was a recent addition but is visually identical to the OG 5711 with a case that’s only larger by 1mm.

Price: Rs 59 lakh
3. Patek Philippe Advanced Research Aquanaut Time Travel

A guilloche dial, partially openwork dial display and a second time zone – the Aquanaut packs in a lot of heat. Its time zone function also allows it to show the local date and a day/night indicator for both time zones. Although this is a stainless steel watch, the applied Arabic numerals are in 18k white gold with a luminescent white coating. The balance spring is made out of a material called Silinvar, which makes it hyper-precise.

Price: Rs 1.29 crore
4. Patek Philippe Aquanaut Flyback Chronograph

If two watches weren’t proof that SRK really likes his Pateks, you can add the Flyback Chronograph to the collection. The cushion-shaped Flyback Chronograph is as classical as chronographs get. It features a self-winding flyback (a flyback function allows the user to reset the chronograph without stopping it first) chronograph with an annual calendar. What Khan is wearing is the first white gold version of this self-winding model. It features an opaline blue dial with a screw-down crown and a sapphire crystal case back.

Price: Rs 63.3 lakh
5. Swatch x Omega “Moonswatch”

Proof that good taste doesn’t always include ultra-luxe watches, King Khan was spotted wearing the highly coveted (and highly affordable) Moonswatch when the quartz-powered Speedmaster was all the rage. Part of a collaboration between Omega and Swatch, it resulted in a Speedy that cost a little under Rs 30,000 and allowed a far greater mix of people to enter the Speedy club. Khan was spotted wearing the Deep Navy Blue “Mission to Neptune” version, paired with matching denims.

Price: Rs 31,800
