Alia Bhatt fans are left shocked and concerned as her new deepfake video has gone viral on social media. In the edited clip, Alia is seen taking part in the GRWM (Get Ready With Me) trend. The video was shared on Instagram by a user named “Sameeksha Avtr” and has gained over 17 million views as of now.
However, soon after the deepfake clip went viral, Alia Bhatt’s fans reacted to it and expressed concern over the use of artificial intelligence (AI). “I thought it’s Alia, then I watched carefully, and she is not Alia,” one of the fans wrote. “AI is very dangerous,” added another. “What the hell? Musk was right. AI is winning everything for real,” a third comment read. Another person called deepfake “dangerous”.
This is not the first time that a deepfake video of Alia has gone viral on social media. In May this year, a video of Alia surfaced online which showed her face morphed onto actress Wamiqa Gabbi’s figure.
Lately, several actors including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol and Katrina Kaif have fallen prey to deepfake. Earlier this year, a deepfake video of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan also went viral on social media in which he was seen promoting a political party. After the video caught everyone’s attention, Mumbai police came into action and registered an FIR against an unnamed person. The FIR was filed at the Khar Police station by Khan’s office under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 419 (impersonation), 420 (cheating) and other sections of the Information Technology Act.
Later, Aamir Khan’s spokesperson also issued a statement and clarified that the viral video was “fake”. “We want to clarify that Mr Aamir Khan has never endorsed any political party throughout his 35-year career. He has dedicated his efforts to raising awareness through Election Commission public awareness campaigns for many past elections,” Khan’s spokesperson said in a statement.
Prior to this, Ranveer Singh’s deepfake video also went viral in which the actor was seen criticising the government. In the clip, Singh was seen urging people to vote for “Nayay (justice)” during the Lok Sabha elections. However, it was later clarified that the viral video was morphed and edited.
