MUMBAI: Alan Rickman’s guidance for young, aspiring performers who wish to pursue acting as a career appears to have influenced Priyanka Chopra. On Monday, Priyanka posted a little clip from the late actor’s interview, in which he discussed his thoughts on performing, to her Instagram Stories.

In the video, which was from a fan page on a social media handle, Alan said, “Whenever young actors now say to me, what advice do you give me? You know, I’m thinking about training. I want to be an actor, whatever. I say, ‘Forget about acting.’ And I really mean it at that point in time because whatever you do as an actor is cumulative.

It’s about what I say. Go to art galleries, listen to music, know what’s happening on the news in the world and form opinions. Develop your taste and judgement so that when a quality piece of writing is put in front of you, your imagination, which you’ve nurtured, has something to bounce off of.”

Acclaimed for his portrayal of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series, Alan Rickman was one of the most beloved performers of his day. Truly Madly Deeply, Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually, and Alice in Wonderland are some of his other works. In 2016, pancreatic cancer claimed his life.

Idris Elba and John Cena will co-star with Priyanka in Ilya Naishuller’s Heads of State shortly. She completed the movie’s filming earlier this month. Additionally, Priyanka joined the Oscar-nominated documentary To Kill A Tiger as an executive producer. She also has a leading role in Frank E. Flowers’ next film, The Bluff. Karl Urban will also star in it.
