Arts and crafts time is the best time! But if you have creative toddlers at home, then you know that “art” often means “giant mess in the kitchen.” (And on their clothes, on the floor, and random walls they touched on the way to the bathroom to wash their hands.) I know it can’t be just my kids! Priyanka Chopra Jonas might have just saved your home this summer. She shared the sweetest new photos of her 2-year-old Malti Marie finger painting, and we are taking notes on all of her mom hacks for keeping the chaos under control.

The Citadel star shared a glimpse of Malti’s artwork on her Instagram story today. Malti sits at a table in the first photo, looking at her hands, which are covered in multiple different colors of paint. (I’m sure it’s washable, but still!) In front of her is her masterpiece: swirling color that she fingerpainted. But while the scene is adorable, we can’t help but clock all the genius ways Chopra Jonas is containing the mess without sacrificing the creativity.

For starters, Malti is wearing a toddler-sized red apron to keep her clothes from getting messy. A must — especially if your toddler likes to use their clothes as a napkin. To protect the chair, a towel has been draped over the cushion for Malti to sit on. Again, knowing how toddlers like to wipe their hands (and noses!) on any soft fabric around them, this is brilliant.

Finally, Chopra Jonas has taped down the white sheets of paper with painter’s tape to prevent it from sliding around the table. She taped four sheets of paper — or maybe very thin white canvas — together to give Malti enough room to spread her hands out as she paints. Because what toddler can contain themselves to one tiny little rectangle of paper? With these tips, letting your toddler paint suddenly seems much less overwhelming.

In the second picture, the Love Again star shows the result of their hard work: a painting with Malti’s purple handprints and Chopra Jonas’ purple handprints mixed together. She wrote “PJC” and “MM” in red to sign the cute picture.

Chopra Jonas and Malti have been spending a lot of time together lately. Earlier this week, she shared photos of the toddler hanging out in the hair and makeup trailer while she got ready to shoot her upcoming film The Bluff. Malti had a great time scribbling on the mannequin head with purple marker, and Chopra Jonas joked, “I think ‘Diane’ is coming home with us 😂” You can’t get in the way of a little creative genius!
